The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) signed and exchanged the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on the Foreign Human Resources with the Status of Residence of “Specified Skilled Worker” with the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports of Sri Lanka on June 19, 2019.

The MOJ, in preparation for the acceptance of foreign workers with the Status of Residence of “Specified Skilled Worker”, which began in April 2019, negotiated this MOC with countries that are expected to send foreign workers to Japan with a view to eliminating malicious intermediary organizations. Throughout the negotiations, the MOJ collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the National Police Agency.

Justice Minister Yamashita welcomed Mr. Harin Fernando, the Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports of Sri Lanka and held the signing ceremony at the MOJ. This MOC will facilitate the immigration of talented workers from Sri Lanka to Japan.
