Types of Public Prosecutors

Public prosecutors are divided into the Prosecutor-General, Deputy Prosecutor-General, superintending prosecutors, public prosecutors and deputy prosecutor.
  •  The Prosecutor-General is the head of the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office and directs and supervises officials in public prosecutors' offices nationwide.
  •  The Deputy Prosecutor-General belongs to the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, assists the Prosecutor-General, and performs the duties of the Prosecutor-General when he or she is unavailable.
  •  Superintending prosecutors are the heads of high public prosecutors' offices, and there is one at each of the eight offices nationwide. Superintending prosecutors supervise the administrative services of the high public prosecutors' offices and direct and supervise officials in the Regional Bureau of Legal Affairs and the Legal Affairs Bureau within the offices or jurisdiction.
  •  Chief public prosecutors (public prosecutors that are the head of a district public prosecutors' offices) manage the administrative affairs of the district public prosecutors' offices, and direct and supervise officials in the local public prosecutors' offices within the offices or jurisdiction.
  •  Public prosecutors are assigned to the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, high public prosecutors' offices and district public prosecutors' offices, and perform duties such as directing and overseeing investigations, hearings and trials.
  •  Assistant prosecutors are assigned to local public prosecutors' offices and perform duties such as directing and overseeing investigations, hearings and trials.
