New Status of Residence “Specified Skilled Worker”

 On December 8, 2018, the Law for Partial Amendment to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Act for Establishment of the Ministry of Justice was enacted by the 197th Diet (extraordinary session), and was promulgated on December 14 (Act No. 102 of 2018).  The content of this revised law includes the establishment of the residence statuses of “Specified Skilled Worker (i)” and “Specified Skilled Worker (ii)”, and the establishment of the Immigration Services Agency.
