Asian Conference of Correctional Facilities Architects and Planners (ACCFA)

This gives an overview of the Asian Conference of Correctional Facilities Architects and Planners (ACCFA).

History

The Facilities Division of the Minister’s Secretariat, starting with the Sirindhorn Vocational Training School facility project (grant aid) in the Kingdom of Thailand, has established a cooperative relationship between the ministries of justice of Japan and Thailand and contributed to improving technical standards in the correctional architecture field in both countries by continuously dispatching staff to Thailand as advisors who give policy advice focused mainly on facility maintenance for over 20 years.
In order to expand technical assistance to other Asian countries, the establishment of an international conference aimed at sharing information on the latest technologies in the field of correctional architecture was proposed to Thailand, and the Asian Conference of Correctional Facilities Architects and Planners (ACCFA) was established.
This conference has been held every year in different Asian countries since the first commemorative session was held in Tokyo in January 2012, after two pre-conferences meetings between Japan and Thailand in 2010 and 2011.
Japan served in the role of the presidency of the ACCFA board of generous until November 2017 and is now playing a leading role on the board of directors in the operation of the conference.
In 2019, we held 8th ACCFA in Japan !!
