The Kyoto Congress Youth Forum was held on February 27 and 28, 2021.
Before the opening ceremony, Aimi Sekiguchi, the VR Artist, provided wonderful performance as an opening act.

The opening ceremony was held with the attendance of Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado; Yoko Kamikawa, the Minister of Justice; Takatoshi Nishiwaki, the Governor of Kyoto Prefecture; and Daisaku Kadokawa, the Mayor of Kyoto City.

Approximately 150 youths from Japan and overseas participated in the Youth Forum in the hybrid format combining in-person and online participations. The overall theme of the Forum was "Youth Engagement for Our Safe and Secure Society: towards Achieving the SDGs."

Discussion in Group Sessions

Adoption of the Recommendations ( VIDEO別ウィンドウ )

Participants discussed the following agenda items in Group Sessions, respectively:

  1. Youth engagement in preventing youth crime and reintegrating youth offenders
  2. Youth education for fostering a culture of lawfulness
  3. Youth commitment towards a safe information society

The outcomes of these discussions were adopted as recommendations at the Plenary Session.

The recommendations have been presented to the Fourteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (the Kyoto Congress) at its opening by youth representatives.
