The Review and Prospects of Internal and External Situations (issued in January 2006) reviews domestic and international public security conditions in 2005 (as of the end of November) and surveys prospects of future trends. Topics discussed in this report include the threat of international terror spreading in the world, various issues regarding North Korea including nuclear development and abduction of Japanese nationals, and Aum Shinrikyo that has succeeded in again strengthening absolute faith in Asahara, ex-leader of the cult. The report also explains measures being taken and those needed to be taken by the Public Security Intelligence Agency.
