The exchange of a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) between the Ministry of Justice of Japan and the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar
An MOC was exchanged with the Ministry Justice of the State of Qatar concerning the legal sector.
1. History and background
The Ministry of Justice promotes strategic cooperation with foreign countries in the field of law and justice as one of the pillars of “justice affairs diplomacy”, and as a tool, signs memorandums of cooperation (MOC) on comprehensive cooperation with the ministries or departments of justice in partner countries.
On January 29, 2019, an MOC was exchanged with the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice of Japan when H.H. Sheikh Tamim, the Amir of the State of Qatar, visited Japan.

2. Outline of the MOC
The Ministry of Justice of Japan and the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar will promote cooperation and mutual support in a wide range of fields of legal and justice affairs between the two countries through the exchange of knowledge and other activities.
3. Future areas of cooperation
The Ministry of Justice is preparing for the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (Kyoto Congress) in 2020, and is further advancing cooperation at the UN while gaining knowledge from Qatar, which held the last congress in 2015.
