Work of Judicial Scriveners

Judicial Scriveners perform the following tasks:

(1) Representing clients in connection with registration application procedures or deposits
(registration application procedures include the registration of property rights, registration application procedures related to companies and corporations, and mortgage security grant applications based on the Mortgage Securities Act.)
(2) Preparing documents to submit to courts, Public Prosecutors’ Offices, District Legal Affairs Bureaus or Legal Affairs Bureaus
(Documents submitted to courts include complaints and legal briefs;, documents submitted to Public Prosecutors’ Offices include letters of complaint; documents submitted to Legal Affairs Bureaus or District Legal Affairs Bureaus include registration application forms and sales contracts serving as certificates showing the reason for registration.)
(3) Representing clients in connection with the procedure to request administrative review by the Director of the District Legal Affairs Bureau or Legal Affairs Bureau regarding registration and deposits
(Requesting administrative review refers to appeals filed with the Director of the District Legal Affairs Bureau or the Legal Affairs Bureau by a person challenging the registrar’s actions regarding the registration of property rights.)
(4) Representing clients in summary court
(including litigation proceedings, payment demand procedures, civil provisional remedy procedures and civil conciliation procedures in summary court, and all other matters within the jurisdiction of the summary court.)
* Work related to consultations is included in duties described in paragraphs (1)~(4).
* Only judicial scriveners who have been certified by the Minister of Justice as having the necessary skills to carry out work related to lawsuits in summary court can conduct the duties described in paragraph (4).
