State Minister of Justice of Japan participated in the ASEAN Law Forum in Malaysia.
Mr. KOMURA Masahiro, State Minister of Justice of Japan, participated in the ASEAN Law Forum 2025 held in Malaysia on 20 and 21 August 2025.

The ASEAN Law Forum 2025 was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 19 to 21 August 2025. The Forum serves as a platform for sharing good practices in the field of law and justice in ASEAN Member States. Upon receiving an invitation from Malaysia under its ASEAN chairmanship, State Minister KOMURA participated in the forum as the representative of Japan which was the only participant from non ASEAN Member States. During the Joint Session co-hosted by the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia and the Ministry of Justice of Japan on 20 August, State Minister KOMURA emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and Japan in the field of law and justice through cooperation in the promotion of international arbitration.

In addition, Mr. KOMURA held talks with H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN and Mr. WATANABE Tetsuya, the President of Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of law and justice between ASEAN and Japan respectively. State Minister KOMURA also visited the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and exchanged views with the Director and other officials of AIAC during his visit to Malaysia.
