On 28 July 2026, State Minister of Justice Mitani had an online meeting with H.E. Prof. Dr. Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, S.H., M.Hum., Vice Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia.
State Minister Mitani and Vice Minister Edward exchanged views on measures to combat digital piracy in Indonesia. State Minister Mitani requested of Vice Minister Edward that the Indonesian competent authorities promptly apprehend the operators of piracy websites in Indonesia and rigorously handle the cases. In response, Vice Minister Edward assured that the Indonesian competent authorities would appropriately address the matter through the criminal proceedings in Indonesia.
