The Ministry of Justice of Japan hosted the commemorative symposium for the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10): "The Rule of Law and International Cooperation in the Pacific Island Countries and Regions."

 On 10 July, 2024, the Ministry of Justice of Japan (MOJJ) hosted the symposium: “The Rule of Law and International Cooperation in the Pacific Island Countries and Regions,” as a commemorative event for the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10) in Tokyo.

 This commemorative event had been held in advance for PALM10 , which was held in Tokyo from 16 to 18 July, 2024. The event was co-sponsored by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and MOJJ to discuss issues and possibilities of Japan’s international cooperation, focusing on promotion of the rule of law among the Pacific Island countries.

 This event was attended by justice ministers and senior officers from four countries: Fiji, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Samoa, as well as government officials of Australia and New Zealand, which are traditionally their regional partner countries. The participants joined the panel discussion entitled “The Rule of Law and International Cooperation in the Pacific Island Countries and Regions" in the event.

 Furthermore, Mr. KOIZUMI Ryuji, Minister of Justice of Japan, received courtesy calls by justice ministers and high government officials from the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Samoa, who were visiting Japan to participate this event.
 Mr. KOIZUMI welcomed their visit to the ministry and expressed his gratitude for their contribution to the event. He also shared his vision to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the Pacific Island Region.

 Seizing this as a great opportunity for the ministers and senior officers of those countries to acquire an advanced understanding of Japanese judicial system, we conducted a excursion for them to the Legal Affairs Bureau, rehabilitation facility and prison.
