Minister of Justice’s Visit to the Republic of the Philippines
Mr. SUZUKI Keisuke, Minister of Justice of Japan, visited the Republic of the Philippines from 25 August to 28 August 2025.
The details are as follows:
During the visit to the Republic of the Philippines, Minister Suzuki met with H.E. Mr. Jesus Crispin C. Remulla, Secretary of Justice of the Republic of the Philippines, and the Ministers exchanged views on topics such as strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of law and justice between Japan and the Republic of the Philippines.
Minister Suzuki also met with the Hon. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Secretary of Migrant Workers of the Republic of the Philippines, and exchanged views on promoting and facilitating the acceptance of foreign workers under Japan's Specified Skilled Worker System and the Employment for Skill Development Program.
Furthermore, Minister Suzuki met with Mr. KANDA Masato, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where they confirmed the importance of the rule of law and exchanged views on strengthening future cooperation between the ADB and the Ministry of Justice of Japan.
Finally, Minister Suzuki visited Batanes Province and exchanged views with the Hon. Ronald P. Aguto, Jr., Provincial Governor of Batanes, on the operation of correctional facilities on remote islands and the prevention of recidivism. Minister Suzuki then visited the correctional facility of Batanes and observed their operational conditions.
