Justice Minister Received Courtesy Call from IOM Director General
Justice Minister Yamashita received a courtesy call from Mr. António Vitorino, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on May 28, 2019.
The Minister welcomed Director General Vitorino to the Ministry of Justice of Japan and expressed his appreciation for the IOM’s assistance in providing immigration services such as the resettlement of refugees to permanent homes and protection of victims of human trafficking. They exchanged views on developing the cooperative relationship between Japan and the IOM. In addition, the Minister encouraged high-level representatives from the IOM to participate in the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which is to be held in Kyoto in 2020.
