The First Expert Meeting of the “Anti-Corruption Task Force for Ukraine” was held in 5 and 6 December, 2023
The Ministry of Justice of Japan held the First Expert Meeting of the “Anti-Corruption Task Force for Ukraine” (ACT for Ukraine) on 5 and 6 December, 2023 in Tokyo.
Building on the G7 Leaders’ Statement on Ukraine adopted at the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May 2023, in which G7 leaders declared to support Ukraine’s efforts to advance legal reform especially in the judicial sector and promotion of the rule of law, the plan to establish the Task Force was agreed at the G7 Justice Ministers’ Meeting held in Tokyo in July 2023, with a view to bring together the G7 to assist Ukraine’s anti-corruption efforts.
Five Ukrainian anti-corruption experts visited Japan and participated in the First Expert Meeting of the Task Force in-person. Anti-corruption experts from G7 and international organizations participated online and discussed issues such as the current situation concerning anti-corruption measures and assistance needs in-person in Ukraine.

During their visit to Japan, the Ukrainian experts made a coutesy visit to Mr. KADOYAMA Hiroaki, the State Minister of Justice of Japan. State Minister KADOYAMA expressed his respect to Ukraine for her continued anit-corruption efforts, despite the difficult circumstance and vowed to continue support Ukraine thorough the work of the Task Force.
