National Statement

   National Statement is an official statement of the Government of Japan submitted to the 14th United Nations (UN) Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which Japan hosts in Kyoto in March 2021 (“Kyoto Congress”). In accordance with the overall theme, the four agenda items and the workshop topics of the Kyoto Congress, this statement presents Japan’ s initiatives in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, as well as Japan’ s recommendations and commitments to the international community.

50 Years of Criminal Justice in Japan

   The booklet is designed to archive and showcase Japan’s efforts and progress in criminal justice over the past 50 years since the 4th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (previous Kyoto Congress) took place in Kyoto in 1970, on the occasion of this Kyoto Congress in 2021.
