The ancillary meeting "The Rule of Law and International Arbitration / Mediation" was held at the Kyoto Congress (March 11, 2021)
The need to develop fair and impartial adjudication processes is not unique to the field of criminal justice. To further promote good governance in an economically interdependent world, it is broadly felt that there is a need to further strengthen due process, fairness and impartiality in civil and commercial dispute resolution while achieving increased efficiency. Ministry of Justice organized the ancillary meeting "The Rule of Law and International Arbitration / Mediation" co-hosted by the Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA) and the Japan Association of Arbitrators (JAA) at the Kyoto Congress (the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice) on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
At the meeting, after the opening remarks by Mr. UEDA Hidetomo, the Vice President of the JFBA, the following presentations were given. The event attracted attention with many questions asked during the Q&A session.
