ASEAN-Japan Good Practice Seminar on Intellectual Property 2024 (JSIP Follow-up Seminar) was held on December 4 and 5, 2024.
The Ministry of Justice of Japan (MOJJ) held the ASEAN-Japan Good Practice Seminar on Intellectual Property 2024 (JSIP Follow-up Seminar) on December 4 and 5, 2024 in Jakarta, co-organized by the Asia Crime Prevention Foundation (ACPF), the ASEAN Secretariat and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
This seminar was a follow-up initiative for the Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property (JSIP) 2023 and aimed to widely promote the exchange of information and good practices regarding legal systems for intellectual property dispute resolution in the ASEAN region.
As a cooperative activity between ASEAN and Japan under the "ASEAN-Japan Work Plan on Law and Justice," which was endorsed at the ASEAN-Japan Special Meeting of Justice Ministers in July 2023, this seminar was funded by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund(JAIF), and supported by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Intellectual Property Lawyers Network Japan(IPLNET), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO).
Judges, government officials, and lawyers specializing in intellectual property from ASEAN member states and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste were invited. Each country introduced and discussed legal systems and practices on two themes: “Issues Concerning Trials in Trademark Infringement Litigation” and “Enforcement on Trademark Rights,” focusing on counterfeit goods on E-commerce platforms as was discussed in JSIP2023.
