The 3rd Criminal Justice Forum for Asia and the Pacific was held on 24 and 25 June 2024.
The Ministry of Justice of Japan convened the “3rd Criminal Justice Forum for Asia and the Pacific” on 24 and 25 June 2024.
As in previous forums, a large number of criminal justice practitioners from Asia and the Pacific region including Japan participated in the forum both in-person and online.

During the Forum, criminal justice practitioners divided into two working groups: Mutual Legal Assistance (WG-MLA) and Offender Treatment and Rehabilitation (WG-OTR), and shared information as well as exchanged views under the themes of “Asset recovery (freezing, confiscation, management, and return)” and “Challenges and developments in the treatment of women prisoners” respectively.


On this occasion, UNAFEI hosted a special event with a theme of “Reducing Reoffending - the upcoming UN Model Strategies and future implementation”. Furthermore, delegations actively engaged in bilateral meetings and communicated with each other.
