The 1st Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness was held on 9 and 10 October 2021.
The Ministry of Justice of Japan convened the “1st Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness” in Tokyo on 9 and 10 October 2021.

At the opening ceremony, following the opening remarks by Mr. FURUKAWA Yoshihisa, the Minister of Justice, the address by Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko and the video message by Mr. John Brandolino, the Director of the Division for Treaty Affairs, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), were offered.

After the opening ceremony, the opening performance and keynote speech were performed by Mr. NISHIKAWA Gohei, a pianist, under the title of “A Seven-Fingered Pianist – Miracles can happen if you keep verbalizing your dreams”.


About 90 youths from 33 countries participated in the Youth Forum either in-person or online. Under the overall theme: “The Role of Youth in Achieving a Diverse and Inclusive Society”, participants were divided into two group sessions and discussed two thematic agenda items: “Reaching the Age of Adulthood and Participation in Society” and “Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in the Post-COVID-19 World-Youth Participation in Achieving an Inclusive Society”.


At the end of the forum, the participants adopted recommendations that were presented at the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) in November 2021.
