To the international students who returned home

To the international students who returned home owing to the occurrence of the Earthquake

After the Earthquake struck on March 11, a large number of international students departed from Japan, but having left Japan in a hurry, some international students departed without obtaining re-entry permission.

If you are an international student, who departed without obtaining re-entry permission, you will need to apply for a new visa in order to start the new semester. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a special measure, the necessary procedures have been simplified in order for you to be able to return to Japan in time for the next semester, and you will be eligible to acquire a new visa from the Japanese embassy or consulate in as short a time as possible

For more information, please contact the Consular Services Center – Visa Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Tel: 03-5501-8431), or please contact the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate.

※This special measure has been terminated on August 31, 2011.
