The 23rd Annual Conference on Technical Assistance in the Legal Field

Overview

The Research and Training Institute (RTI) of the Ministry of Justice of JAPAN (MOJ) provides Asian countries with technical assistance in the legal field as a part of international cooperation conducted by the MOJ. These activities include supporting the cultivation of legal professionals, improving judicial systems, and drafting and revising basic laws and regulations.
In addition, to more effectively implement technical assistance in the legal field, the RTI has held the Annual Conference on Technical Assistance in the Legal Field every year since 2000 with the aim of exchanging information and ideas with relevant organizations and individuals on matters such as the status quo and future prospects of support, thereby bolstering collaboration.
The theme of the Conference for this fiscal year is “Roles Played by Legal Theories and Legal Education in Legal Technical Assistance—Focusing on approaches to the training of practitioners.” Discussions will be furthered on the importance of developing legal education and constructing legal theories in countries receiving support, and opinions will be exchanged on effective approaches to providing support in this regard.
This year’s Conference will be held in a hybrid format that also enables online participation. We look forward to welcoming many people who are interested in legal technical assistance and international cooperation in the legal field.
