Introduction of Japan’s BBS (Big Brothers and Sisters) activities at the Youth Forum for the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (The Kyoto Congress Youth Forum)

Prior to the Kyoto Congress, the Youth Forum was held on February 27 and 28, 2021. The Youth Forum brought together young people around the world who had interest in crime prevention and criminal justice to have lively discussions on worldwide issues relevant to the main theme and agenda items of the Kyoto Congress from a perspective of young generation and establish global partnership for future.

Seven BBS members participated in group session 1 of the Youth Forum and discussed agenda item 1, "Youth engagement in preventing youth crime and reintegrating youth offenders”, and delivered a presentation on the history of Japan's BBS movement and some examples of "Tomodachi Activities".

The recommendations of the Youth Form including "Tomodachi Activities" as a good practice in the reintegration of youth offenders were submitted to the Kyoto Congress at the opening of the Kyoto Congress.
