What is child support?

チルドレン・ファースト
Child support refers to expenses necessary to look after a child. In general, it means the costs for a child to be raised until the child becomes economically and socially independent, which includes the expenses necessary for food, clothing and housing, educational and medical expenses. A parent who is looking after a child after divorce can receive child support from the other parent.

Even if you are not married, you can request child support if your child is duly acknowledged by a biological father. (see Article 779, Civil Code)
